LBJ and MLK from the Miller Center

[From the newsletter of the Miller Center for Public Affairs at the University of Virginia.]

To mark the 50th anniversary of the Bloody Sunday march in Selma on March 7, the Miller Center has compiled excerpts from President Lyndon Johnson’s secret White House tapes which shed new light on Johnson’s relationship with Martin Luther King Jr. and his support of voting rights legislation.

Audio and transcripts of the excerpts, as well as a timeline of events, are featured in a newly created web exhibit, which can be found here.
