Reading Wickham on 'The inheritance of Rome'

I'm starting to read Professor Chris Wickham's book, The Inheritance of Rome: Illuminating the Dark Ages, 400-1000.
Reviews of the book appear in, among other places:
The Telegraph

The Literary Review

The Guardian

The New Yorker

Have any readers of the Blog read it? What are your thoughts on it? Please post in the comments.

Wickham's latest book is a continuation of sorts of his thousand page masterpiece "Framing the early Middle Ages: Europe and the Mediterranean 400–800." Framing the early Middle Ages is a necessary read for anyone interested in the early medieval world-- particularly those interested in economic history- and I recommend reading it in tandem with this latest publication.
