Washington and Lee and Lincoln

Surface mail recently brought the announcement and schedule for the conference "Lincoln for the Ages: Lessons for the 21st Century," at Washington and Lee University, on September 25-26, 2009. Justice Clarence Thomas deliver the opening address Friday night; Saturday's three panels are "Character: the Personal in the Political," "Politics: Self-Government in Principle and Practice," and "Civil-Military Affairs: the Executive Goes to War." More information is here; you may also contact Dr. Lucas Morel of Washington and Lee's Politics Department, at morelL@wlu.edu. A $30.00 registration fee gets you admission to the symposium and a luncheon.
